I don't want to be rated

-----

btw. who would be able to rate other people when rating starts now. No one would have the required 9 ratings to be able to rate others...

Myrthos,
this makes sence indeed, if the spammer's goal is to get easy posts count fast
What are you doing with those, who don't care, just offend for their pleasure?
Yes, in this case mods are thoroughly studeing everything that is written and take the measures accordingly.

BTW. Sorry for asking, but I have a question to our mods. Are you really reading everything we are typing, even in -one word- and -A to Z-?

Tutamun.
Right, noone. This will start from a blank list. It will take time until there will be people who are able to rate.

Kabuti
Why?

Really I still like this idea, and unlike you guys and gals I can see it working.

Remember, that having the right to rate other people brings a lot of responsibility. Those who can rate cannot allow themselves to be or act selfish, not to scare away good people.

No, they do not read everything offcourse, thats where they have us for.
If someone is very "notty" there will always be someone to report that to one of the mods, which can then take action.

Offcourse they browse to topics with interesting titles etc

I don't think so.
I am sure that the mods use to read everything in the forum and that they open all the links.
As they can't be in the forum 24 hours by day, if a member see something wrong, bad words or a bad link, he can send a PM or a mail to the moderators.
Arguments between members is not the worse thing that you can find in a forum !
The moderators have to be very careful with everything which is posted on the boards.

barta, do you honestly think they are looking at every thread and topic of this forum, while you read in all the peek of the weeks they hardly get any night sleep?

I think they want to spent their free time better

But, nobody sayd they wait for answers online, they can read everything we write while being at work, though I understand that is a headache
Honestly, I have no idea.

Since a few weeks, they don't have free time and their night sleep is very short.

For the forum, it is a question of responsability.
jvb you have your own forum and i hope that you read everything in it and that you open all the links.
If someone write something wrong in your forum, first it is the responsability of this person.
But if you don't delete as soon as possible the post or the link, then it is YOUR responsability, because your are the administrator of the forum.

Then I can only say that our mods are very loyal people.

As for their attention towards us. I PM'd one stupid question to one of our mods at last saturday night. At sunday morning I had the answer in my inbox. I have never seen such attention on any other forums before. Lets care about our mods as they care about us.

I am pretty sure all the Mods at Larian, and all the Larians know we care about them and what goes on here. Otherwise we would not be here. As far as ranking, rating other members. I say no. I feel it would create a piont of contention, and I doubt anybody wants that.

I'd vote for that, but a simple NO will also suffice imho

Not much use in voting for a rating system - Rat already said it's not gonna happen... The discussion for alternatives is still open though.

About the mods - I have the impression Lynn does read (if only quickly) many (if not most) posts... I DO have the feeling *Lynn is watching* - but that could be something... Freudian or something

At RPGDot we also have a warning system. 5 Warning and you are banned. The system also includes an extra button on every post, which, when clicked, sends an e-mail to the moderator who can then check out the post and can take the appropriate action (if any action is needed).
The moderators at RPGDot are expected though to read all the posts. That's where they are moderators for, the button is just to signal them quickly.
Of course the button is sometimes pressed by accident and sometimes the reason is not valid, but overall it works fine.

In some occasions we had some idiots on the forum who didn't make it to 5 warnings, they got banned before they reach that point. At a certain point this was so bad that I installed guardians at the forums. A group of 3 that had access to all forums, so they could moderate them in case the real moderator was not there. Afterall moderators have to sleep too

Myrthos:
This forum too has a "Notify Moderator" icon at the bottom of each post.

As for spamming to increase post count, that's what the "3 word story" in the general chat is for.
