Did you try the CD in a different optical drive, if available, or even another computer? A different drive may be better able to handle the error.
Try the recovery function in the freeware program
CDCheck (this site also has links to other data recovery programs and services). The more of the imagelists.rar file you can recover, the less would have to be transferred.
Corrupt sections of a recovered file could be identified by spliting the rar file (with
Chainsaw) and checking CRC values (using something like
FileCheck); after replacing damaged sections and/or the end of the file, the pieces could then be re-joined.

Are there any computer or game clubs around there where you might be able to find and borrow somebody's install CD to copy that file?
