Unlike Diablo 2 where you could spend 10 minutes fighting ONE boss. That makes it feel like an epic battle, and not something where I swing my sword 20 times and bang on the use potion key.

Yeah, but you have to die like a hundred times and get your "body" every single time, which is the stupidest idea ever in role-playing gaming. It might be OK in multiplayer, but it makes no sense in single-player. In Divine Divinity (and Beyond Divinity too, I'm assuming), when you die, then you are dead, and that's the way it should be. If there is an enemy in Beyond Divinity that takes 10 minutes to beat then we'll probably never be able to beat it.

Diablo 2 did try to remove that when you faced Diablo himself. His health regenerated quickly when he was idle so by the time you got back to him, he was at full health again. This forced you to properly complete the epic 10 minute battle without dying. Mind you, there was a way around that...

I agree that for most RPGs, dead is dead. Action games should be the ones that have respawning.

@ HolyWarrior: God Evil Islands was hard. The difficulty was just all over the shop. Oh and for those who thought the death knight had a bad voice, the main hero in Evil Islands was REALLY bad.

It's true that most people come to this forum to find out how to defeat Josephine, or to find out why their stamina suddenly started dropping in the cursed abbey.

Clever Larians......give them a reason to go to the forum, then they're here....FOREVER!! Mwuh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

I generally start all games on Normal mode too...it's often so the balance should be good, not too easy to get boring and not too hard to get frustrating!

Sorry Handefood, just plain wrong. End-act bosses don't regenerate health. You could therefore die and come back to slowly kill them off. Maybe this was an effect of a later patch but I always remember it being like that.
Diablo-clone in patch 1.10 was the only boss to regenerate health. He does it like a b*stard too!
Exp loss is very tough in D2 upon death, especially at higher lvls. I would prefer reloading like in D1 I think.
There is always hardcore play however....

Not all the bosses, just Diablo. I might be wrong though, it's been a long time. I think I read that in the Official Strategy Guide which is based on v1.5. They might have changed it. I'm pretty sure he does regenerate as I remember him being a little bit healthier everytime I came back.

Hmmm, like before the expansion? Maybe, can't remember that far back. Lvl 50 used to be high then! The 'frozen orb spam' was fantastic too!

I think it was the expansion release version.

Frozen Orb Spam?
