The waitress never answered back...
and now that my eye had adjusted to the dim surroundings, I could see why...
It looked like a slight skirmish might have gone on here, tables were overturned,
and some broken bottles and glasses, scattered around...
That poor waitress was scurrying around faster than, an ant at a picnic.... behind her near the counter, were two others.
They both looked rather uneasy, and I approached them cautiously stating,
at the same time, that I just needed some food and drink...
(I left out the trouble part) and they loosened up a little....

after my little embarassment about the sword, ,I observed a napkin, moving
towards these two, across the counter of the bar,
it seemed to be moving...by a will of it's own, and it quite shocked me when
will grabbed the napkin to use and revealed...a hand!
I almost choked, "Watch out"...
I lurched back, but the hand started flipping off all around me until
the short he told it to be nice...
He told me his name was William Winklepicker, and this was his longtime
friend Bob the Owner...
"Can we get any food around here? I asked as politely as I could...mainly cuz
I was half starving to death, and Granny Orcarina always said, being nice
always gets better results, ...unless your in battle!

Bob asked me what I had in mind, and i told him, i'd have some of that roast
i smelled cooking, along with some snails, smothered in butter and garlic
sauce...three loaves of bread, 4 fruits, 2 pieces of cheese, and a carrot!
He looked at me peculiarly with a stunned look, and handed me a mug,
telling me that i'd have to wait on the snails, at least till he had a moment
to go out back... and get some.
"You play cards my green friend?"
"Cash?" Was my reply.
"And order up more Ale too, I'm very thirsty for something other than creek water...

We played cards, and got to know each other, and drank until the wee hours.
Will told me of his lot, of 'invisible' friends, and that he sees dead people.
I assumed he was nuttier than a fruitcake... Bob piped up and jokingly stated
that he is regarded as a fairly strange fellow around Viroeth, his very own
home town. Can you believe it?
Hmmmm? I thought to my self, "not quite sure about that yet!"
It looked as if he and Bob had known each other for years.
The food was a welcome treat to my empty gut...
