Well, for a start, be polite, mister/madam.
Then, do you like to pay 50 EUR for a game which cannot run?
Very recently, I bought:
- Broken Sword 3 (THQ)
- Farcry (UBISOFT)
- Beyond Good and Evil (UBISOFT)
All 3 of thems had problems installing or starting the game. And not just me: on the forums, there are *plenty* of people having the same trouble. Many are for reading the CD/DVD, because of copy protection. Farcry has a note inside the "readme" file (not even on the box) that the DVD simply cannot be read by such and such and such DVD brands. I gave 50 EUR and get nothing in return.
The shop will not give the money back because they think I *may* have done a copy at home and the CD works on *their* machine.
This has a name: theft. No matter what you say about piracy.
Do you like to give away money and not get anything in return?
But trust the pirates, they will have it cracked in a matter of days (hours sometimes), and only the honest players will be harmed. I was reading in a magazine that in some eastern countries, games are cracked and sold by pirates network, no matter the protection.
I buy up to 20 games per year, that is a lot of money. So, I do not deserve your insults, mister/madam. I am just frustrated about that tendency to care so little about the customer, i.e, us.
I have nothing against protection, but if it causes trouble to legitimate customer, it is another story!
The solution is better legal actions against pirates networks, not punishing honest players.
In this particular case (BD), I was sad to hear about the problems caused by the protection, because I really think the programmers have been doing a good job and I am a Divinity fan.
Still, wishing good luck to Larian with BD.
Best,
Philippe Jacob
