DD is honestly an outstanding rpg.
i WILL say though, that BGII was great as well. BG requires more micro-management however, as you're (probably) running more characters.
also, i enjoyed BG more playing with my brother (each running 3 characters) than in single-player mode. BG is meant to be shared (much like NWN). DD is solo.
for me, and my style of prefered play, DD beats both diablo, both BG, NWN, morrow and arx. all good games. this is simply the best.
