What does everyone think about this new first page for my site

Goldys Divinity Corner

Be Honest please.
Should I use this one or keep it the way it is?

Excellent, it is a fine improvement on your previous page, I can only imagine what program you used to create it, but as a side thought maybe you can split it up in separate pages, that way it will load faster <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

@Jurak nice site, but that scroll php takes ages to load from this end of the universe.

And to both maybe you could use a different font, to make it look a little less 'officialese'
Anyway good work specially the php, but then your in to programming arent you Jurak?

Yup! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> VCR's and Clocks are my speciality,
I can do Coffeemakers too, if they're not too complicated. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />

no i don't really do any programming precisely ,....Viper's the guy for that.

Well I suppose that to a knight all orcs look alike <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

As for the new design, I'll start with it when I got some free time (wich isn't the case now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />)

What loads faster a gif or jpg?

[color:"orange"] What loads faster a gif or jpg? [/color]

Hmm well the rule goes: a gif for drawn pictures, cartoons etc. and jpg's for pfoto images.

However I find from personal experience that jpg's load faster, especially if you run them through a web optimiser like Fireworks, I have been able to cut loading time by 50% in some cases.

In answer to your question, go with the Jpeg's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well it depends what the size is after compression. Gif are normaly used for pictures that have little collor (and gif can be transparent). The compression of is some thing like this.

Example:

a picture with the following line of collors

Red Red Red Red Red Red Red Red Blue blue green green

after copression the gif file just says.

5* red , 2*blue 2*green

Ofcource if you got a picture of a person the collors will always differ from the previous pixel end the gif copression is useless. And don't forget that Gif can only use 255 collors. But the copression is lossless

JPG

Jpg uses a diffirent compression (lossy) it removes all information in the picture that the human eye wouldn't detect anyway.

In general this is the rule.

a picture with a low collor count and has lots of lines uses gif. If it has lots of collors use jpg. (icons are aways Gif )

Personally I will stat using the PNG format. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

Seem that I was wrong. HTML is not used in the sig but UBBcode.

So this should work when you paste it in the sig.

No problem. Too bad it only has UBB code in it if it was HTML that ugly blue/purple line could be removed around your banner.

there's nothing photoshop can't do. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> besides, u can get another freebie software that can do just as impressive work as photoshop: gimp. not as friendly but just as powerful.

how i really did that? it's all layers. shyon is another photoshop specialist. so's the dude of death.

edit: i've updated the banner pix so please check my previous post.
