About hints, someone should make a universal hint system entry:
http://www.uhs-hints.com/It's a sortof website with walkthroughs, but the thing is, you don't actually get solutions, but hints on solving a certain part of the game. Like a quest. The quests can be categorized, and each quest can have multiple hints. You start off with vague clues, and end with exact descriptions. The player can then choose how much hints he wants to see.
For instance, in Divine Divinity you have the poison barrel quest on the farmlands. You could have these hints in the following order:
1) You have to establish what you're looking for. Think: what could possibly be making the crops unnaturally glowing green?
2) Poison. You're looking for poison.
3) Since the crops were poisoned suddenly overnight, they still have to be nearby. Explore the farmlands.
4) The poison is probably hidden. Look for good hiding places.
5) Caves are good hiding places.
6) There's a cave to the south of the farmlands.
7) The orc you kill in the cave was carrying a key.
8) Keys open doors. Doors are usually located inside buildings.
9) Since the orc was carrying the key, there's probably another hiding place for poison. So you're still looking for poison.
10) Check nearby buildings. Namely the ones with alot of rooms for storage.
11) The blue boar inn has rooms.
12) Check the basement.
13) The owner might know more about this.

You get the picture don't you?
Just look at other games on that site, although some are ver poorly done, there are some really good ones aswell.
