Well, i really have been thinking about this...seems like a good oppertunity.
This is what i do for the oil field companies in Canada.
It is sooooo tempting...though i suppose the competition would be firce for this. I do think if i do not get the job up at site i am suppose to hear about on Monday...i will apply. Huge step! Though i miss overseas to all heck, and really do want to give it a go.

@Carrie
Not quite sure of all the work involed, nor do I understand it all, but it sounds like a great job for someone that wants to go to London for a year. For it being an Assit postion sounds like it is more of the Supervisor role instead. If you do apply for ir , my best wishes, Tho my wishes on the job you are currently waiting to hear about.

What i do...(a lot of people have no idea....)
So, document control...
I take care of all the engineering drawings my company produces, and other vendors produce for Syncrude.
I make sure everything in the title block is spelt correctly, signed off with an engineers stamp...track them in a database, make sure they get reviewed by the proper engineers, and make sure people up at site get their copies.
If the review is not up to speck, i contact the vendor to make sure they get them corrected...

Well, that is it is a nut shell. Sounds kinda boring, but it's not...i gave you the short end of it. You really have to watch what you are doing, becasue these drawings you also put into a electronic filing database - if you check in the wrong drawing to the wrong spot, it can hold up work, becasue then you may have to try and find a very old drawing out of millions.

Make sense? (Not really....)

@ Carrie well it sounds good. At least better than my job in which I have to take care everything for my boss. From his pills, trips, papers, car service, apointments etc. So this new job sounds interesting in comparison with the one you do now. I think it has some new things and a change would be nice hm? So go for it girl. You have nothing to loose. Make a try

Well, as things may turn out...
I have gotten a job up at site - in Fort McMurray.
Pay is really well. I am there for a year and a half.
I get an LOA of 3100/month (though my apt. will cost me 1000 - and trips back to Edmonton about 500/month) But, i do get a wage of 18/hour on top of that. I figure i can pocket 3 grand or so a month...it will make a very nice trip back overseas, as well as a down payment on my own place.
Wish me luck all - site is a VERY diffrent place!

Where i am going to work.

Lord knows, i will get that phone call from London now! We will see i suppose.
I will try and check in when i can...when i don't...i will miss you all.
