I don't know if this is going to be the same for everyone since battlefield stuff is supposed to be randomly generated... but here goes.
The second dungeon in my Act 1 battlefield is ... broken? I can get in. There were absolutely no monsters. If this is a bug, it sucks, but if it was intentional, it's brilliant The further in I went the more anxious I got because I was just waiting for something to jump out at me.
Nothing on level 1. Went to level 2. Nothing on level 2. Went to level 3. Again, nothing. However this time I was in a big open room. The DGen flag was somewhere outside the room. But I could find NO exit from the room, no levers, no secret walls, nothing. So I left. Is it a bug that I can't get to the flag?

I guess, you saw the gen flag from another dungeon, same level. Have you played Divinity? Depending on your location, you could see other dungeons, too.
The 3rd lvl is normally the end level in a BF dungeon - and a small area.

Same thing for me, BF 2 dungeon completely unpopulated except for the final level. I seriously doubt this was intentional since the area was designed for levelling up...
There should be a blue flag showing on the map for the level you're on, head towards it to go further down.

There should be a blue flag showing on the map for the level you're on, head towards it to go further down. That's the problem. Level 3 is one big room, with nothing in it. No monsters or anything. There's a blue flag but I can't physically get to it because the room has no exits. Ok, so I didn't level up, but I sure did get alot of free loot out of that dungeon! Not that it matters, none of the merchants have any gold anymore

When I got to level 3, the quest monster was there, a big spider, but that was it. Pretty big room for a spider. That was the only enemy I encountered in the whole dungeon. Sounds like you didn't even get to kill the spider.

Nope Wait... now that I think about it... in the FIRST dungeon, there were two bosses at the same location. A spider and a gargoyle. I thought it was a bit wierd, but I managed to kill them both, and solve two quests at the same time. Perhaps that spider was supposed to be in the SECOND dungeon??

The bottom level of the first dungeon, small with 4 branching rooms? I didn't see ANY enemies there, but I did pick up one quest item.
I wouldn't doubt that the big spider accidentally got put in the first BF dungeon, the random dungeons seem buggier than the main game areas.

For me, the Act 1 BF level 2 dungeon was COMPLETELY unpopulated. I ran through the first two floors collecting loot and then casually picked up the copper amulet of piercing unmolested when I descended to the 3rd floor.
I found the level 3 key later and when I went there, there were ghosts, evil eyes and earth elementals throughout the first 2 floors. On the 3rd floor I encountered THREE quest bosses...two gargoyles and a giant spider. Thankfully, they only came out one at a time.

So if i reckon well, it's all random. I finished BF1 and BF2 yesterday. In BF1 I killed two bosses so solving two quests. In BF2 I killed the spider solving another quest. In this BF I havn't encountered any enemies either. For the remaining quest I presume I'll have to finish BF3 of which I still have to find the key.

In writing a review of BD, I queried Larian about this. They said they are well aware of it, and it is to be fixed in the next patch.
