I've summoned my skeleton repeatedly. It disappears after 30 seconds. Just goes poof. Mind you, it doesn't move out of the radius... it doesn't really have a chance to move more than a couple of steps before it simply unsummons. Clearly this makes the doll useless. I've asked on the Hints forum, and learned that they are supposed to hang around indefinitely unless they are killed or leave the area they were summoned in. So what could I possibly be doing wrong, or is this a bug that others have noticed? I'd appreciate any thoughts or assistance on the matter.

They can also be unsummoned by clicking on the summoning doll again.
Did you try having your other character do the summoning? I don't see where that would make a difference, though. Have you selected the skeleton and moved around? Maybe running him out of his range and resummoning him right away would have a different result? (he would be paralyzed for a short time after coming back)

I've tried having both characters summon. The doll appears, and I can put items in its inventory; I can have it walk a few feet to the left, a few feet to the right. Or I can simply have it stand in the place it was summoned. Within 30 seconds... or less... it simply disappears. I recently found the Demon doll, summoned it, and danged if the same thing didn't happen.
I can't think it's anything I'm doing. Something is clearly radically wrong here, something beyond my control as a player. I'm using the English North American version patched to 1.32... although as we all know, many of the "fixes" on that patch didn't come through. Still, it makes me crazy. There must be some reason that my game has this problem, and apparently nobody else's does. My DK even spent a skill point in Summoning Dolls Upgrade.
Frustrating. There must be a reason for this. Arggghhh. Thanks for trying to help.

i believe it was by design that the summoning dolls are limited to a certain radius around the specific spot they were summoned at. if so, then so be it. i have gotten around this very easily :
1) using them as a mule that eliminates my encumbrance up to the dolls weight limit (unsummoning them back to my inventory, where they weigh 2, regardless of what they carry)
2) in combat, pause, and summon, then select all, click on target, and unpause. wreaks havoc on the enemy and they become infinitely useful.
for some reason, my summoning doll had 4 skill points to spend. i don't know if this was due to some level upgrades the deathknight did, or if this is normal. but when i used 3 of the points to boost its own summoning doll upgrade skill, i noticed that no more skill points were made available.
is it possible for the summoning doll to only receive skill points if the upgrade is assigned by a character other than itself?

I tested the "radius" theory (on the off chance that merely walking across a small room would take them out of their radius. I summoned the skeleton, then all three of my characters stood in the same spot without taking a step. They did nothing, the skeleton did nothing. Within 30 seconds, the skeleton had disappeared.
I'd really, really like to know what's going on with this. Others tell me there dolls do not have this problem, so I'd love to know why mine do.

that is strange. mine doesn't do that. but his stats are frozen for some reason so no equipment boosts work now. the ones i applied prior to whenever this first happened were effective, but when i remove the equipment the boost stays.
