Yeah this game is great. It's easy to get into a group and the missions are really fun. Much better than a standard MMORPG. Never have to worry about downtime too! I have to go sleep now but I'll come back tomorrow, we can do a mission together then.

The combat is a little slow; I was expecting more of a Diablo 3 than this.
Oh well... damn fine graphics.

Played until 5 am. OMG, I feel excausted. Will play at evening again
LordMalis I have added you to my friends list. PMd you couple of times with no responce, maybe I am doin something wrong.

Alrik, by saying -to kill the same monster for hours- Rythok meant spawn-camping. Usually in online games there are spawn points in different areas.
So, you find a group and travel to the spawn point. You find safe place not far from that spawn place and start killing. Monsters respawn in such places in lets say 5 minutes. This means, that you stay there and kill the same monster for hours and hours again and again to get precious exp and goodies.

And kill stealing is when there is another group camping near the same spawn point.

Hope this helps.

In this game as every group has it's own dungeon there is no steal killing problem, and as I have learned you go in, solve all quests in that dungeon and go to another dungeon, no camping. Good approach

yep, it is!

my experience as a noob in all this MMOs isn't that all good. i've the game & logged on as Tok Janggut (so add me in your list, ok?) the funky monk but i felt the game was a bit jerky. ok, it was very jerky. & upon logging in, i met 'colourful' people. curses, impatience, selfishness, etc. thank God isn't an online game so at least i can play it alone with peace of mind.

i've u on my list, egin. i put in Egin the Hard. i hope that is correct. i'll try this game again tomorrow.

That's the meaning of colourfulness of people, you can find good people there also, maybe this will take more time. Actually that was the reason I went to bed so late. I joined one group with very nice people, they really worked in team, so we won many many battles, it was very exciting.

Yes, that is correct.

And unfortunately we can't form guilds in the demo. But we still can make groups up to eight people.

I will be there tonight. Come on folks.

My Elemental Monk is Baroness De Elevion.

BTW: Best skill? Phoenix. Get if you can; you can probably trade for 200 gold if you can't get one from the Gem Trader.

I played uild Wars for an hour or 2 and I don't think I like it. There must be something wrong with me since everybody else adores it. Anyway here are the things I don't like.

I miss the isometric view of games like D2, DD, Sacred. Seems like a minor point, huh? But--for instance a member of my party was fighting a monster right next to me and I didn't even know it.

The changing camera views are annoying to me and interfere with gameplay.

When I arrived at the Perilous North where everyone was milling about I had absolutely no idea how to form a party or what to do. Fortunately after a few minutes someone invited me to party. And yes I did post an ingame chat message asking what to do, but got no answer.

I felt like I didn't know what I was doing and needed to solo a bit to get a better feel before rejoining a new party. But the solo game was difficult--kept getting killed by a group of scorpions--and well, boring, as well. Not exactly boring, but not fun. I found myself preferring to log out and play something else.

I suppose I would give it another try, but not just now.

People might not have answered because they didnt know. It isnt even a beta at the moment remember. When I was speaking to people MOST of us were running around not knowing what to do. Unlike a well established FINISHED MMo EVERYONE you meet is an absolute noob .

Mine is also elemental monk. I thought I have seen all skills that are available in the demo. I use ice shards to mezz incoming monsters - very good skill. Fire storm, gale and lightning. What is phoenix? I have never seen it.

BTW, where can you get that silk?

Cleglaw - solo will give you good start and it is good playground to test your skills. You can also complete those small quests for goodies, but good items, and exp are coming through cooperative missions.

i have about the same experience as cleglaw. plus the fact that my game was very very very jerky & lags so much that i gave up within 20 minutes of play. & this isn't the first time.

there is this instance where my character got killed, then ressurected & i saw the carcass of my character drags along all the way to where i last got killed & i see that my corpse can fight. sad to say that corpse got killed. again. what a way to go. yep, cleglaw, that damn scorpions.

i'm glad others have a good time & connection to the game.

mandrake's right about everybody being a noob in guild wars. whatever extra stuff that u want to do such as emotives (i saw some players did that) or creating a group is not as easy as clicking a button (i fail to find that button).

mandrake, u're right, that camera angle (heck it's almost like KOTOR but worse x100) sucks monkey balls. many times i have to time my walk/run right to lure enemies & then kill them in more manageable manners. once u're in combat mode, u cannot change your angle & most of the time your character just won't respond. crap. but then this is still alpha.

& for those who are 56k modem hopefuls, well disipate that hope as it's not as modem friendly as i thought it would be. but then maybe it's just me. *sigh* very sad as the game looks very promising in many ways.

my system specs:

duron 1GHz
256MB RAM PC133
geforce 2 mx200 32MB
ATA100 20GB HD
56k modem

Huh. I don't understand why you guys have problems with the camera. I use the up arrow to move and keep the right mouse button pessed to steer. In combat I just sit back and click on my skills until the target(s) is dead, making minor adjustments to the camera throughout. I thought it worked pretty good. Reminds me somewhat of Gothic(s).

I think the game is very fun. Learning all the ins and outs is pretty cool. I've gained 18 additional skills and I'm VERY happy with my Warrior/Ranger. Juggernaut!

Surprisingly, I think the funnest aspect of the game is the coop missions. I'm, what you might say, somewhat lacking in the socialization skills, but I've been having a great time. Theres nothing so funny as watching your whole group fleeing for their lives from a group of monsters that was a little bigger than you thought it was. And so far, almost everyone I've fought beside has been pretty cool.

Janggut, It is so sad to hear you have problems with the game. What you describe looks like heavy lag. That is IMO because of connection.

Janggie, when you enter a game it asks about language and I think location, can you choose something that is closer to you? I have heard though that there is only one server, but who knows.

As for system specs, most likely it is a bit low, can you change some parameters in options, like trying to lower resolution and sound quality, if it allows to swich off shadows for example (but I am affraid not)?

It was sometimes laggy for me too yesderday, I died and my team was wiped out thanks to that.

I am one lucky bone. My system allows me to play on max graphical settings and at resolution 1600x1200. Plus having cable modem with speed of 512kb/s up and down gives lag free gameplay almost all the time.

Lord Malis. yep agreed. I don't have any problems with camera also. More of that I can move by mouse and by keyboard, so this gives flexibility to move around and turn.

I have spent all skill points, now having around 2 left.

BTW. I have discovered those short button combinations which are essential for playing against hordes of enemies in both coop and pvp missions. It was a headache to target foe when in a crowd. There are button combinatons helping to do this.
ctrl/c - target closest enemy
shift/c - target closest friendly
F1-F8 - your group members.

Hope this helps.
