how to open the door (no ordinary key will open this door) to the stairs?

Welcome <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - you will have to survive 2 maze levels and then a few smaller rooms - then you will find the "special" key. You can't miss it.

What mazes are you talking about? I finished the imp/tooth quest, and I (think) I've been everywhere on this level but I haven't found any mazes.

I have also been all over the place to find this "special key"...I even reached the battefield! what is going on...stuck! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The next level after the pit level is a maze, sort of (not really elaborate, but close enough to be called a maze). Past there you will find that 'special key' and get back to where you can use it.

Related: I cant seem to find the key that opens the door to the room with the tooth itself.

got the same problem... tried with levers as well..

Spoiler no key or lever needed, next to the door there is a light just blow it out and the door will open
