Uh, no, I don't care if they overlap, all we (or at least I) want is the ability to show all items at once, like we did until 1.40.

And I suspect, very strongly, that there aren't "separate inventories" as you seem to think. Why would they do that, when they could just utilize a filter as they were already doing? I'm sure, internally, it works the same way as the old filters do. It's a single inventory, and it's just showing you one part of it. The only thing that has changed is the UI.

Unlike some other posters though, I do realize that creating an "show all" button isn't that easy. Requires art work, a new button to be placed in the UI, code for it, etc...probably the cooperation of a few people, minimum.

The other suggestion though, that you just be able to "unclick" the currently clicked button, and see everything...I bet that is fairly easy.

The main reason it's easy is they already had the ability prior to the patch. I have also programmed although I don't do it for a living anymore. I bet it would take them maximum 5 minutes to fix this.

I'm just saying, no one likes being told their work is easy. Try to imagine being in their shoes, working on a single game for the past 18 months day in day out... Then when you're done your fans tell you to make a few adjustments, because they're easy anyway...

It just sounds so arrogant. Go ahead, make suggestions, that's what the suggestions forum is for... Fine whatever. But arrogance? Nah, we can all live without that.

It wasn't arrogance. It was truth. If you want the truth sugar coated to feel better, then I guess that's your problem. I highly doubt any of them would deny that this is an easy fix.

I can't help what you "feel" you "read" into a post.

Wait a minute... I just spent another 3-1/2 hours downloading the 1.4 patch (cripes, y'all couldn't just add updates, you had to make us download the 1.32 patch all over again too???) and now I read a post from Lar that says they are uploading the patch all over again because there are problems with it too?

I'm having great fun playing the game, but I must admit some of the interface choices made by Larian leave me completely puzzled--and this is one of 'em. I can understand adding a series of filters. I cannot understand removing the ability to see everything in your inventory at once. Perhaps it was an oversight?

I started the download 3 hours ago, when the patch was announced. I tried to install it a couple of minutes ago, and of course it wouldn't let me, saying I already had Version 1.4 or Greater installed. So I came here, only to discover that Oops, more problems, they've uploaded the patch again, and I have to spend yet another 3-1/2 hours downloading the newest upload. That will be a total of 11 hours downloading patches for a game I've had less than a week.

I am not amused.

LOL. I think I may wait till they sort it all out.

My sympathies. No cable modem? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

You can go into the registry of your PC and edit your BD version number down to 1.0 to get the patch to install correctly. Or you can uninstall and reinstall the whole game and apply the 1.40 patch.

I'm pretty techno-illiterate. How would I find the registry of the PC in order to perform that edit? I couldn't find anything in the Beyond Divinity installation itself...

Regarding the new inventory...THANK YOU LARIAN. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" /> I personally never desired a show all button in DD so I am 100% happy the old system is back.

The new system is much better.
Who cares seeing 200 objects in the same time, really?

Very good job, Larian! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I care actually. There is no harm in having the 6 tabs and a show all ability. It's pretty crazy to have to sift through 6 tabs for each character to see your whole list of inventory. Being able to see all inventory for a single character is way preferred for many instances. I like the changes, but they took away the see all, which really needs to be there.

6 tabs, with 2 pages each (have to use the scrollbar), on 2 or more (with dolls) characters. Minimum 24 inventory "screens" to peruse. Yeah, that's a lot of work just to get a quick overview of what you've got.

I haven't tried the new inventory system. But by default, they should try to support all methods of viewing the inventory... past and present.

Being a profressional game programmer, I'd have to agree with some of the previous posts that if the code is well written, unclicked the button to show all items is probably a 5 minute change. Especially since it worked that way before. The original code is probably still there, just commented out or something.

However, adding a new button to "show all" would definitely be more work.

For what purpose? How hard is it to click a tab? I want armor BAM click a tab Armor pops up. I want to see a weapon BAM weapons pop up. Whats the point of being able to see everything inventory just gets cluttered. Old version is way better IMO.

See Fireblades post above. Weight management for one is easier and faster if you can see all items.

What if you just want to get a quick overview of what's weighing you down, cause you just became encumbered?

Also, what do you mean by the "old version"? Are you talking about something from Divine Divinity?

if that's the biggest problem there is....well it doesn't really seem to be much of a problem then....just another for the "whiners" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

It's not admittedly a terrible problem, and I suspect it will be fixed pretty quickly--something that Larian's very good at. Another problem, though, is referring to people as whiners for complaining of something in a game you haven't even seen, though. Or did you figure that aggravating people was just being "logical?" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
