In order for the patch to take effect (assuming you downloaded AND installed it) - you have to load an older save and then re-save it, so the changes take effect.
Exception Battlefields => they are generated when you enter it the 1st time - so changes won't occur in the current act you're in - but is supposed to take an effect as soon as you enter the next act - then the BF is generated anew.
My examples => I had the German version 1.3 (not 1.31) - then I got the English version, installed and patched it to 1.4. Loaded a German save into it and saved it => was a 1.4 now (IN English!) - yeah, it worked. And I saw quest changes.
German tech crack Barnie is so kind to help me - he explains every time patiently, how I should rename my registry before installing the game + additional patch version - and at the moment I'm having 2 partitions with several patch versions:
GV 1.2
GV 1.3
EV 1.4
I can swap between them - each version has a lot of saves I use to experiment. Nope, I'm not a beta tester - but I like to learn a bit about how a game works. And so far => I had NO crashes by playing, copying older saves into new versions. (Win XP Home, Athlon XP 2800, Geforce 4, 4200 - 1024 RAM)
In case you wonder => I want to help the Engllish gamers by using the correct quest and ingame names => therefore I need this procedure and both language versions.
