Today my copy of the game (which I won after hours and hours of imprunning) arrived! So now i've been playing non-stop for about 2 hours and a half and I just have to say ... I love it! I have to admit, after reading some of the negative points I was afraid that I wouldn't like it as much as DD. You get used to the Dk's voice really quickly, so that not a problem. In fact, the voice that was posted on the forum was the only one that sounded a bit ridicelous. I didn't like the fact that the voice of the skull was changed to a german like voice, I liked it the way it was .

The only negative thing that I can come up with right now is one particular skill, namely "WITH SHIELD". It wouldn't matter that much if it just added on the "one handed" skill, but now if you use a shield you have to invest on a entirely new skill. Luckily that's where unlearning comes in handy. So I was able to buy back three skillpoints for a minor price (1200 gold).

What makes this game great is especially the smaller things, like that you can cha nge the icon for every skill and also the humor ofcourse .

Thanks for another great game Larian!

I just got my game today too, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. Besides, I want to wait for the 1.42 patch first. I've been entertaining myself with the ingame music, the manual and the novella. Watched the intro aswell.

The intro speech I tought was pretty cool. Stuff like:"He did leave one alive. He ALWAYS leaves one alive. After all, torturing isn't fun if the creature is already dead." or "It was time to introduce myself to the itch."

Some of the music sounds really good. Great background tunes for setting the atmosphere. Only thing I thought was funny was that alot of the music names are misspelled, like the "tail of the knight" LOL! (Unless ofcourse he really meant tail and not tale)

Not much else to say until I get that patch. Well, that's besides: Thanks a bunch Larian!

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I just read the book (Child of the Chaos) and it's pretty good actually , you certainly take after your father, Rhianna.

@ Tovi , perhaps he means a Raanaar knight, seeing how they have tails

@Yannos: That's certainly pheasable, but not probable. I base my facts on the other mistakes made in song titles like "ones again togather" (Once together again) or "promiss" (promise)

Oh well, it doesn't matter. As long as they sound good, right?

My favorites so far are "Celebration", "Moving Knowledge", "After Great War" and "Playing God". There isn't any song that I don't like really...

@Lynn: I already forgot what food is! And bed? Never even heard of that...

All I can say is "You are very lucky then!" ---> what you don't know, can't hurt, isn't it?

And thanks for the praising words!

How can you even expect me to sleep and eat if you make your games too addictive?

@Tovi , Well okay so it IS a spelling mistake then. You win

Well the game arrived at my doorstep too. Sorry I am a bit late I was playing BD.

impressions:

the voices are except for the first line of the DK after that it's a good voice. larian should realy work on the first exppression.

skill system:
I'm 50/50 on this now. I've been saving up my skill point till my dk mage/archer and warrior gets a decent spell to put my points in. The problem I have is that i miss the WOW effect when adding 1 skill point to the accuracy of my bow.

I've been seriously investing in intelligence while using no spells (yet). all my skill point are going to my bow for now (as backup when my mana is low).

As I am playing on 1.42 I had NO bugs at all. engine is very stable ( crached 10 times a day om my pc). But I am not that far in the game either.

addictiveness: I will now end this post because I want to play . Also I will be posting less on this forum and more playing the game. (posting on here will have to wait till work ) (Mandrake where is that stasis pod again will trade cryogenic chamber )

things I miss
personal traits
the huge game world of (screw those guys that said "we need direction") I want a huge game world.

But don't be mistaken this game one of the best RPG's. It plays smooth and is addictive. Theire things in that are improvements on but also vice versa. I hope that ˛ will be "the best of both worlds" (not the star trek episoe with to borg to avoid confusion)

I credit the team for daring to inovated and experiment with stuff instead of releasing an expansion pack.

Overall I give this 8.7 /10

I like the DK. Period. Apart from a few lines which I would like him to have pronounced differently (by putting more or less emphasis on certain parts of a sentance), he's fine.

Oh, and I completely agree with Morbo, we share the same opinion about the game. I'd state my own opinion, but I'd just be repeating him I'm afraid.

Oh wait, no... From the looks of it (it's way too late now), version 1.42 is the version that should have been on the game cd's. It seems to have most of the nasty bugs out of the way, plus the game has been enhanced since version 1.100... Pity that...

*Phew* I'm just glad those invites aren't to my wedding! -------> J/K

Let us know what your impressions are after you've had time to play the game. I am really enjoying myself in the new BD universe. Hope you do too! Enjoy.

Yes, we gripe quite a bit about skills balance and points, and bugs. But basically it's a great game. I love the depth of the world, the variety of gameplay, and the writing.

That's been one of my chief gripes about skills balance, too. It's not the way any other game does it, so you (and I) invest all these skill points in learning 1-handed...only to find, later on, that those points mean nothing, because we're using a shield and they don't apply. Hopefully, Larian will merge the skills. Though that might bring them below their vaunted magic 200 number.

What makes this game great is especially the smaller things, like that you can change the icon for every skill and also the humor ofcourse .

Yes, the joys are in the details. It's a lot like Divine Divinity, in that respect.
