Today my copy of the game (which I won after hours and hours of imprunning) arrived! So now i've been playing non-stop for about 2 hours and a half and I just have to say ... I love it! I have to admit, after reading some of the negative points I was afraid that I wouldn't like it as much as DD.
Yes, we gripe quite a bit about skills balance and points, and bugs. But basically it's a great game. I love the depth of the world, the variety of gameplay, and the writing.
The only negative thing that I can come up with right now is one particular skill, namely "WITH SHIELD". It wouldn't matter that much if it just added on the "one handed" skill, but now if you use a shield you have to invest on a entirely new skill. Luckily that's where unlearning comes in handy. So I was able to buy back three skillpoints for a minor price (1200 gold).
That's been one of my chief gripes about skills balance, too. It's not the way any other game does it, so you (and I) invest all these skill points in learning 1-handed...only to find, later on, that those points mean nothing, because we're using a shield and they don't apply. Hopefully, Larian will merge the skills. Though that might bring them below their vaunted magic 200 number.
What makes this game great is especially the smaller things, like that you can change the icon for every skill and also the humor ofcourse .Yes, the joys are in the details. It's a lot like Divine Divinity, in that respect.
