I also tried it with following procedure. Unfortunetly without success.
I backuped my savegames and de- and installed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" />. After that I copied the savegames back (without overwriting the bd_act5xyz folders). Then I applied the 1.0->1.42 Patch and loaded a 1.0 savegame from Act 4 and tried to click on the raanaar skeleton doll -> crash to desktop.
