I had the same problem. What worked for me was instead of tackle him right i tackled him left( after a lot of trying with the potions), and the problem was solved. Later on i talked to the spiderfarmer and then he said that ( after dialog option "if anything else strange happend" or so)he had problems with directions and he couldn`t tell you if your hart is on your left or right side.
