I have Knight as pure tank, 1H/shield, and Hero as archer.
Seems like the Knight is "intended" to use a 2H sword (you find some good unique ones), but since there's not much armor you can give him, the shield slot provides one more place for customizing with charms etc. Plus blocking works really well. So he's focusing on slashing/shield, damage and deathblow first, and blocking. Gave him poison weapon too to help with self-healers, though I may reallocate that -- it's not too strong.
I'm going with bow + splitting arrows for the Hero, focussing on reload and crit hit. She also has convert arrows; was planning to give her find arrows as well, but haven't had any problem running out of arrows yet, so may be able to save the point.
Utility skills are split between them, with my hero doing identify and alchemy, and my knight handling repair and sharpen. He leads, so I've also given him Luck (since he opens more chests and makes more kills); not sure if that affects drops for both chars or just one, though.
However, let me say that even in tactical mode once you get past the first couple of levels this is a pretty easy game. Plus you can always reallocate your points (money will be a non-issue very soon). So feel free to experiment, and don't feel like you have to min/max unless you start getting slaughtered.
