When I combine potions by dragging stacks of reds onto blues or vice-versa, sometimes the stack underneath disappears, even if there was more than one potion in it.

Are you sure it dissapears, and doesn't just "hide" behind the other one? Try draggin around some of the potions until your dissappeared potions reappear. Also, check the inventory of your other character just in case. If that doesn't help, it could be a bug.

It disappears -- not there in merchant screen, so I know it isn't in either inventory.

I've done some more checking, and this bug apparently applies to large red potions only.

Just for the records => do you have lvl 3 in combine? If not => they vanish, because you missed your appropriate level. This was the case in Div, too => potions disappeared if you tried more than your level allowed to.
