upon completion of the act I second dungeon in battlefield, the gargoyle drops a number of items. one of these is a 'spiked club' with NO specifics listed - spiked club
carrying this club is no problem, putting it in inventory was no problem, storing it in 'my barrel' IS the problem - battlefield storage
as you can see, there are a number of stored items in this barrel. when the mysterious spiked club is put in the barrel (no issue setting it in), and i then try to put my cursor back over the barrel, i crash to desktop - completely out of game.
in total, i've accomplished this crash about 20 times. it makes no difference restarting, reloading or even going back to a save just before defeating the gargoyle and getting the club yet once again.
i'm running patch 1.42 on an overclocked athlon 2700+, overclocked ati 9700 pro, 1 gig corsair memory, WD caviar 120 HD, win xp pro.
this is definitely the bug (the club) as i had a number of things i put into the barrel, one by one (with saves) to find the offender.
i have a save at this point should it be requested.
thanks for the time.

Do you know if the Spiked Club is there every game or if it's a buggy random pick-up?

I had a similar problem with items stored in a chest in Act 2 battlefield. Move cursor over chest, game crashed. Lost several good items I was saving for later plus two quest items. No idea which item was causing the problem but I didn't have a spiked club. Finally had to shrug and move on...

hande -
it was in ALL games for me, meaning, i could take a save from somewhere else in the dungeon and when i got to the end fight with the gargoyle he would always drop the spiked club. don't know for anyone else.

sun (and everyone) - i would suggest this: if you come across an item that has no statistics (see spiked club pic) i've found that it usually denotes something that has a 'special' purpose somewhere. some items like charms, crystal bag(s), battlefield keys have the 'no statistic' quality but are more mainstream items. items like coal, the iron bar and the spiked club(?) have a more singular specific use but also display no statistics. with these items (the latter) i would take the time to save prior to putting them anywhere and then dropping them into a barrel or box that is NOT occupied by anything you wish to keep. you can then see if the item causes a drop to desktop (by putting your cursor back over the barrel) and know if it's safe to proceed from there.
