I'm in ACT I, near Samuels lair and have yet to figure out how to unlearn skill points so I can redistribute them. Am I missing something or do I need to find a "untrainer" somewhere?

Pull up your Skills page, select the icon for the skill you want to un-train, select the trashcan icon on the page that will ask you to confirm if you want to untrain the skill.

You also need to have enough gold -- more as your level increases.

(I'd love to see an in-game rationale for why it costs money to forget something -- I do it all the time for free!)

With respect, it's not level-related. It increases by Act.

Unless they changed something in the latest patch, the cost is directly proportional to the square of the character level.

I asked Larian about this, and was told "the cost rises per act." This was about a week ago. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd wondered how they determined the value of unlearning.

Regardless of any increases related to acts, square of the character level feels right though I never kept records of exact costs.

Reality is for those who cannot cope with fantasy. Fortunately, I can cope quite well.

Unlearn a skill at level 1: 75g.
Unlearn a skill at level 2: 133g.
Unlearn a skill at level 3: 300g.
Etc.

(Yay, a math quiz: find the formula )

To confirm earlier tests, I just started a new game on easy and cleared the cell block. On level 1 the cost to unlearn a skill was 33 gold; on level 2 it was 133.

Cost = (100/3) * L^2 [color:"#3A495A"].....[/color](rounded down to the nearest integer)

An earlier version had a 50k cap for the maximum, though that may have changed.
In the demo this cost was double what it is in the game.

Clearly, I'm wrong, and my source was inaccurate. If I'd been more diligent, I would have tried to unlearn skills at several more levels, and done a comparison.
