I just got the game yesterday and I can't play. When I play BD, it randomly shuts my system down. More like a sudden power loss. Computer locks up then seconds later its as if someone pulled the power cord out. I've never had any problems like this before with my system. I went and updated all my drivers and upgraded to version 1.42. I've even killed all programs so the only things running in task manager were systray and explorer. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

System Specs:

Windows ME (all patches applied)
Athlon 2000+
1 GB RAM (2 x 512 MB crucial DDR266)
Asus A7V600 Mobo (Bios 1006, the latest)
Integrated Soundmax Sound Card
Geforce 2 GTS 64MB (I know i need to upgrade this one soon)

Do you have any other memory and resource intensive games / programs? If so and they do not cause shutdowns, then the problem is likely with BD. If not, it might also be a hardware issue.

I don't have problems with any other game or app at all. I've dunno how memory/resource intensive BD is because I can't play. But I've played Sacred, Dungeon Siege, Diablo 2, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, Halo, and many others that ran with no glitches. I could even play those with numerous things running in the background with nothing like this ever happening. I've never seen anything cause this type of crash. It really acts like my power cord was pulled out.

I have the exact same problem as you're having.

My system config:

Win2k, fully patched
Athlon 3000+
512MB RAM (1 x 512MB DDR400)
Asus A7V8X (latest bios)
Integrated sound (avance drivers)
ATI Radeon 9000 128MB RAM

Maybe it's an Asus + Athlon bios thing? I've also had some crashes ingame that caused the Radeon's graphic drivers to reset.

Hmmm, did something happen to my last post? I'm sure i posted this before but here goes again. I fixed my problems with BD. I had to turn off DMA on my hard drives and cd drives. It no longer causes random shutdowns. Sound is a bit choppy but its running now.

Glad you got it working. Did you check Asus' site to see if there were any updated chipset drivers or a BIOS update that might not have this same problem with DMA enabled?

Yeah, I checked all my drivers when I first ran into the problem. Everything is the latest version. I can live with DMA off.
