I am on the 2nd act and found a skillbook. When DK opened it the book said Alchemy and in gray had several potions listed. But when I passed it on to the other character the book was of another totally different skill of craftsmen ship. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am patched to current one. I don't understand why the subject of the skill would change. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

When read by either character, a skill book should disappear. Are you sure you did not have 2 books?

When you open a skill book, it disappears. So you must have had two. And it doesn't matter which character opens it, both will be able to learn the skill.

what I remember is that the book was a large red one. I did have a 2nd book next to the first one but it was a brown book. Thinking about this perhaps each character did have a book that was red, or DK did have 2 red books. Once they open it hides the invetory so I couldn't see. What I did was pick up the book out of inventory and drop it unto the other characters picture. The book was no longer in DK's inventory so I figured it just passed ot the other character.
All I did was click on it to open it. When I did so Alchemy was in red print and the list of potions all in gray. On the other character the print just said you have learned craftsmen ship, blah, blah blah. I didn't pay much attention to it as I thought I already knew what the book was about. I just clicked and saw the description out of the corner of my eye, then poof it was gone.
I haven't assigned any skills yet to my characters. I want to see how far I can go without using any first. When I do assigned skills I will see which one has alchemy and which has craftsmen ship. That should clear up the mystery.

Duncan...

I think you must have accidently right clicked, which opened the potion manufacturing menu the first time.

You would have had 'Alchemy Laboratory' in red text, then a list of potion types below, all in grey text as you cannot manufacture them yet.

Then you moved the book and left clicked it in its new location, giving you a list of gained abilities you could now learn.

Does that sound about right?

yes that sounds about what happened. I think you solved the mystery. Thanks for clearing that up.
