Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems My sound problem is killing the experience for me

You guys probably get this all the time but i tried searching and i couldnt pin point my problem.

First I can always hear the conversations just fine between characters, but when it comes to just music playing in general i cant hear squat, it really is making the game boring for me and i cant take it anymore. I cant hear any of the sound fx, or the music in general.

I have my latest drivers (i have a sound blaster live audio card) and ive tried the turning down of the sound accelerator, its still a no go. Any suggestions?

BTW every other game works flawlessly.

In the sound options, is there a sample sound played when you change the volume for the voice or sound effects? Other than turning down the hardware sound acceleration, I'm not sure what else to suggest. Did you try backing up your saved games and re-installing?

Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)

Just get some compact utility and test the sounds.rar file integrity (CD3).
See if the file is corrupted. I´ve got the same problem, smashed my head against the wall trying to find it and afterall i discovered that the damn sounds.rar file was quite corrupted enough to mess up all in game sound / music.

It could be (hope not!) your problem, too.

A advise: WINRAR does not detect errors in this file, unless you try to use the "repair" feature within.
