Faralas:
"Ah, Daggerfall. I wrote the official strat guide for the game. You were a tester for Redguard. I wrote the Redguard strat guide too. BTW, Bethesda has now released Arena as freeware. It's a 9 meg download, and I fooled with it the other night. Lots of fun."
Yep, I was a beta tester for Redguard. That was a fiasco because they were so far behind schedule. We couldn't get very far along in the game before it would crash to our desktop. There are some games that are fun to test. Redguard wasn't one of them. But, I do like the game. The testers got free copies of it.
And speaking of strategy guides - how impressive, Fuff! You wrote the one for Daggerfall and Redguard? My poor Daggerfall strategy guide is barely holding itself together because I used it so much. My copy of the strat guide for The Morrowind Prophecies isn't nearly as beaten up. (Btw, great job on getting all of that information into an easy-to-understand volume). And believe it or not, I actually enjoy reading strat guides as they have been an unexpected resource in helping me create part of the magic system for the IF game I'm creating. Btw, how does one go about writing a strategy guide for a game as massive as Daggerfall? That must have been some undertaking!
My next console will be the XBox because of Sudeki, Fable, Jade Empire, and the most addictive non-rpg ever Halo and Halo 2.
I bought my XBox 1.5 years ago and love it. The only reason I bought it was so I could play Morrowind. At the time, my PC didn't quite meet the specs required for the game. And I knew it was going to be at least 6 months to a year before I could buy a new PC. There was *no way* I was going to wait that long to play Morrowind. So, I upgraded the memory in my pc from 128 to 256 MB of RAM. I installed it (all by myself ----------> extremely proud of that feat) but my processor still wasn't powerful enough. So, the XBox fit my budget at the time and fulfilled my burning desire to play Morrowind. Six months later I got a new computer. So now I have some of my favorite games in both PC and XBox form. I have no kids and live alone so my home is a mini-Disney World for my teenaged nieces and nephews. I even got my nephew (who is a sports maniac) interested in playing the old text adventure games. He loves Colossal Cave and I think he beat it in less time than I did the first time around back in the early 1980's.
As for XBox prices, just returned from an EB Games. They're selling refurbished but warranted Xboxes for $99 after a rebate. Same goes for PS2. I would have mentioned this to the prior poster, but I noticed Belgium is the locale, and I believe machines released for Europe are different than here in the U.S. If not, and if he/she happens to read this, check it out.

Yep, I don't know if the games differ in Belgium either. There are some great prices now for new XBox, Game Cube and PS2. I bought 2 refurbished PS2s for my nieces and nephews 1.5 years ago. (I bought one for each family) and they never had a problem with them even though they were refurbished. I think I paid $179 each (no games included - bought those separately). $99 is an excellent price. I may just go ahead and splurge. It's only money, right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

P.S. Never played Halo. Hmmmm, addicting you say? Oh, and thanks for the info on Arena.
