I have exactly the same problem.
It will not start past the config window. It will not give me the choice to skip the config either. All it does is hang in a black screen.
I also have Sacred and did not have this problem with that, it ran fine.
Just this game and it is kind of annoying.
I have the latest drivers for all my hardware and the the latest codecs so it is not that.
