Well, after my over confident statement, I did run into a problem.
In the beginning of Act II I ran into some critters called "Ancient Stone Biters". There were two of them. I eliminated one with ease, and got the other down to about a tenth of his (her?) hitpoints--and suddenly, the reamining one gets two critical hits in a row. He/she get two criticial hits in a row and kills my character on three reloads!
Finally defeat the bugger by avoiding being hit at all toward the end (run around and fight at a distance). So, yeah, one can lose in spite of a boatload of healing and mana potions--but it seems to me a bit of a cheat--same monster, even on reload, gets incredibly lucky a couple of times in a row.
Frankly, I would be more pleased with fewer cases of phenomenol luck, and with fewer healing and mana potions.
I thought the game had really cool combat intially. But the new patches seem to me to make it too easy, unless you run into something like this--phenomenal and consistent luck on the part of enemies.
