Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Technical Problems Can't get by the disk check

When I start up the program is says it is doing the disk check....
The little bar goes up about a 3rd.
Then it just stops... no message nothing.

What is the deal?

Well, you're gonna have to give a bit more info than that...

Do you have the game disk inserted? In the US version of the game, this is disk 2.

Do you have a copied version of the cd? Copied games don't work.

Do you have the latest patch installed? If not, do so right now! It's version 1.44, you can find it in the support section of the beyond divinity site.

If the above fails, post your specs.

Do you have a different optical drive you can try the play disk in? Did you shut down all non-essential programs (anti-virus, etc) before trying to start the game? How long did you wait? A couple people have had long initial checks during the install, but subsequent checks should be faster.

I had the same problem. Reinstalled the game and wiped the folder with the copy protection and the problem went away (it still checks for the disk but now it correctly finds it and loads the game).

I've also got some problems with the CP. I play it on my laptop that has a hot plugable cd drive. When I get the error I just disconnect the drive and insert the drive again and it works. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" />

Same problem here and ive tried everything already. do you wipe out starforce folder before or after restarting windows when installed

i got by the check the first time i played, but the second time it took 10 times as long and didn't recognise it?!
theres not even a scratch on it (its out of the box for like 3 days and i put them right back after use), and it worked the first time.
