I know accuracy is a high factor for the arrow to hit but when I shoot at an enemy I usally get a "no damage" done. So which ability to I have to increase to be able to deal damage with the bow? Thanks in advance.

There are separate skills for bows and crossbows - you get to improve your accuracy, damage, reload time etc for the weapon of your choice.

I never found a bow or crossbow that did nearly as well for me as a melee weapon so I never stayed an archer very long. Melee weapons can be sharpened but not missile weapons. Crossbows seemed to do more damage but maybe later in the game bows were better or maybe it was just the luck of the drop.

There are also skills you can select making you better with specified types of arrows.

In terms of attributes you will need both strength and agility to qualify for the better bows abd crossbows - in my limited experience strength is more for crossbows.

The stat damage bonus for crossbows is primarily based on strength and partly on agility. For bows, it is primarily on agility and partly strength.

My hero character is an archer, and kills pretty much everything in her path with no trouble. I've sunk nearly all of her skillpoints into bow skills, accuracy and damage in particular. I also spent a few points on converting arrows (but only splitting arrows) and on arrow proficiency - splitting arrows. Those things are MEAN, even in the balanced 1.44 patch.

(It's also better when you find better weapons -- my hero has a shadow bow right now that inflits something like 18-78 shadow damage on top of the piercing damage, which is somewhere in the 20-50 range.)

hmm I dont think it can pay to get anything more than one level of damage for a bow (or any other weapon for that matter) when you get some higher level weapons the added damage bonus is trivial really. but alot into accuracy and speed seems to be a pretty good idea.

A lot of points into ordinary damage may not be a wise use of points <nods> but the critical hits and especially the death blows make a big difference (and the accuracy needed to hit more often, as you say).

I dont use critical hit my self but if you do you should try to get as high a level as possible because the chance increases too. So the marginal benefit of level 2 is actually higher than level 1 and so fort

Well, it's a matter of priorities: do you want to do steady damage which mounts up to a lot over a longer period, or do you want to have a chance of doing a lot of damage in a short time, running the risk that you will do very little damage instead? Ofcourse, if you pour enough skillpoints into it, you can do both, which makes you death incarnate. Specialization... it's the best <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

The most important skill for an archer is not a skill at all, but the level of his attributes. Increase Agility, and you increase the ability to hit with arrows. If you really want to be an archer, save those precious skill points and sink 'em into split arrows, where they'll do the most damage once Agility (and Survival, too) reach a decent level.
