Wow. Having gone the sword route a number of times I have to admit how surprised I was by mace fighting. That damage bonus from the mace skill is hefty, and I may be imagining things but I swear it looks like its modifying the total damage not just the mace damage. So strength bonus gets a boost as well. I'm not certain about this, but my damage seemed a bit excessive at the stage of the game I'm talking about.

I was 9th level using the Bat of Striking (33-38 DMG) with a 60% boost from Mace 2. I also had augment damage 2. My strength was 33 or so (give or take a point from items). I was doing damage in the high 70's - low 80's constantly.

Orc drummers? No problem. Skeleton Conjuror Lord? Didn't take a scratch. Giant spider? Didn't stand a chance. It almost felt like cheating.

Which brings me to my three questions...

Is mace expertise working as intended?

Is the mace's inherent [nocando] kicking factor balanced by the rarity of maces in the game?

Aside from my aforementioned bat and a morningstar, I've yet to see any impressive maces. Are there any really powerful maces in the high level game?

Thanks.
