The other boss monsters / quest items should be on the 3rd level of one of the dungeons.
When you leave the battlefields (secondary skill icon) you are returned to where you left the main game.
BTW, the note there about 'in a row like water flow' was referring to the heights of the levers...
<span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>Pulling the levers from highest to lowest opens a secret cellar with some loot, and you do not have to fight any gargoyles or the earth elemental.</span>
You will find the pyramids in act 2.
