What sort of modifiers do you mean? What are the specific fields and values you're getting?

Every weapon and piece of armour you equip makes you slower and clunkier. You can fight quickly with a knife and light armour. Fighting with a giant double-headed axe in full plate mail slows you down considerably, but think of the damage!

That info is correct. In other words, if you wield the weapon, there in an innate loss of speed, accuracy, etc, over simply using your hands. This makes sense. You'll see it on your stats. However, as you raise your stats and train up your individual weapons skills, you'll overcome the inherent losses.

u had me worried there, goldy. for a moment i thought larians have made 'healing' weapons to preserve all creatures in the game so there won't be any deaths. except your characters, that is.

I had the same question with Goldy but it made sence to me since I thought that my armor and weapon are heavy. As I went further in the game I have found some items that do not have negative stats. Some rare, unique items or simple better than those I had. Things get better as you proceed in the game.

But what I want to know is what are the other modifiers...

When say a suit of armour says

Slashing 2
Crushing -1

What does the positive 2 on slashing do in comparison to the negative value for crushing?

If they were both negative values I'd reckon they reduced the damage from those types of weapons, but because one is positive it makes no sense. And I certainly don't believe that wearing certain armour types makes you take MORE damage from different weapon types (e.g. extra 2 damage if hit by slashing weapons, but -1 from crushing)

Look at your stats => Armour part => it's a positive boost, in your case vs slashing +2

Not "more" damage, but your resistance to that type of damage lowers. Getting hit by a mace when wearing a full plate armour will leave some bruises, but getting hit by the same mace while wearing a leather jacket might break a bone (or two).

The positives, like Kiya said, raise your resistance. The negatives lower the resistance (but if you have resistance 0, then it will not go to -1).

I've found quite a few with positive modifiers! Some might be -7% accuracy but 4% speed.

ps. I need to pay more attention to the character screen, totally forgot about the crushing/slashing etc resistances!

Ok, makes sense now and glad to hear that you do find some without negative facrors.
