I am a level 11 mage and have put 2 skill points in identify (equipment) but when I level up cannot put any more skill points in this skill, even though equipment I am getting is level 4 and above? What is the point of this skill if it doesn't match the level of equipment that I am currently getting?

Ever notice how teachers teach you upto a certain level? Find a new teacher that can teach you a higher level identify.

Though I personally don't see why you would be wasting skill points in this skill, as you can always access the battlefields and get merchants to identify any item for you, at pretty low prices... This skill might save you a few goldpieces, but I personally don't think it's worth it at all...

Thanks for the info but doesn't answer the question about game balance--why restrict the skill to level 2 when items you are getting are 2-3 levels higher? Anyways, any ideas as to how to get into the 3rd and final dungeon in the Battlefiels (level I)--I am being restricted to lockpick skill level 6 which is not high enough to break the lock. I am a level 11 mage and am at the end scene of level I (Samuel's quarters) and the deathnights are level 15 and kick my butt in 15 seconds or less? Do not know what I can do? I want to access the final dungeon in Battlefields to gain more experience (I have completed all quests in act I).

Here are some helpful maps where you can find the locations of Battlefield Keys.

The BF3 key isn't available until you kill those deathknights...

Anyway, you seem to have wasted alot of skillpoints on non-combat skills. You're only level 11 and you've got level 6 lockpick and level 2 identify? Maybe it's time to get some skills to aid you in combat. That could really help... This is where the sell skill could come in handy.

Thank you for your honest effort but I don't need battlefield keys, I need to be able access the final dungeon in the Battlefield (level I)--the final dungeon is locked, and needs a lockpick skill beyond level 6, which is beyond what I am capable of (max level 6).

Thank you for your help but I already have the maps. Maybe you should think about changing your "handle" to "those with more, should help those with less." That would make America much stronger and safer for all us in the long run--just a thought!!

What are you talking about? Did you know we hand out billions of dollars in foreign aid every year? How many other countries can say that? Has it helped our image? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! And its funny how those with less always think its their "right" to have help from those who have more.

Man, i can't stop laughing. I'm sorry, but still...

Anyway. You can't access the locked dungeon in the battlefields because you need the battlefield key. The 3rd battlefield key is after those deathknights you're having trouble with. As to the identify skill, kiya already answered that question, please read her post again. :P

On a side note, not all of us are american, mmkay?

Hmm, back to BD - isn't it the responsibility for those knowing more about the game to share this with those needing aid?

And maybe... a bit truth in that for RL, too? Specially considering that "the more" was maybe beat out of the backs of those having less (now)? => Colonialism?
Kiya <opening a rift and escaping, thinking of the rift notes Anakkisam wrote down>

In case anyone wonders - I can upload a screenie, cause Anakkisam had several rift notes

No. I have beaten the game, but that doesn't mean that I'm responsible to help others do the same. It is a choice that you try to take away by making it my responsibilty. I'm not saying that its wrong to help others, just that its not mandatory. Personally, I help people all the time; moving, construction, etc. and I do it for free. But when it comes to the point where I'm not asked for help but told to give it, its expected of me, I draw the line. No, I'm not a socialist, I'm an individualist, because in the end, the only person I can truly count on is myself.

Sorry for the

May you never be in the position to rely or need aid from others, LordMalis
Kiya

And, in case itIs not clear => I fully accept your point of view - even if it not mine

Maybe I'm not making myself clear. Helping people is good. I do it because I WANT to, not because I have to, and it should be the same for everyone. Its all about choice. Take away choice and you are left a slave.

I think we all got off track here and I apologize for starting what was a (I thought) simple question, into a political engagement--this is not the place for such activity. Anyways, thank you to everyone for all of your help regarding this issue, but I still feel the game is unbalanced! How can you have a main character go up against (3 or 4?) level 15 deathnights when you and your companion are only level 11. I can't get the final battlefield key until I defeat these guys! And I still don't know why there seems to be a level 2 limit right now on the 'identify item' skill, when most items are level 4 and above right now--it makes no sense?
