My first game I couldn't read the books and didn't have many problems with the summoning tests (other than overlooking one conversation needed to set a trigger).

My most recent game I could read them all and had major problems - the mushroom wasn't there at all (I used one picked up from a different act) and the summoning 1 master didn't accept my ingredients and I had to drop them and pick them up again.

Linguistic skill doesn't seem to be the culprit.

Reality is for those who cannot cope with fantasy. Fortunately, I can cope quite well.

Well just in case I loaded a save game back to just before the symbol quest and worked my way forward. I just finished academy1 and am heading to the pipes1. I backed up my save games from before but probably won't need them now. The only time consuming thing I have to redo now is the BF's which, for me, was slow due to the Mages in the BF areas.

Thanks for all the help.

It's on to saving the universe or whatever I'm supposed to save.

Ariana, I'm still trying to find out, how this prob happens - do you recall if you originally clicked on or dragged&dropped the items into your inventory? I had this once, too - but was never able to actually find out why.

the only thing I know is => I have a bad habit of drag/drop instead of clicking.

and thanks for sparing me the book/reading thingy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Kiya...

I had no problems with it, and I can't help wondering if that is because I used drag & drop to give the Rune to the ghost. He says you are supposed to give it to him but doesn't take it from you.

Might that make the difference?

Grasping at straws here, I know <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Nope, the ghost always took it via speech option in my games. This wasn't my cause at that time - I still haven't figured out at what point of the game the quest is triggered as solved. When I saw the XP fluttering up in the fore room, I knew it was ok - but if not... I could only place down all quest stuff outside, in the corridor - pick (not drag) them up and then re-enter this fore room. Then XP came.

I can only hope, to find the bug prob some day. It only happened to me once - could not reproduce it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />
