Well i'm afraid bypassing the cd protection is to this day simply impossible...this is one of the most recent and efficient cd protections (StarForce 3)
Doubtless this explains why there has been no "No-CD" patches released on sites like GameCopyWorld. It's a pity, because unless there is a way to play the game without having to have the CD in the drive, I won't be buying it (anyone had any luck using CD images on a virtual drive using software like Daemon Tools?)
I have over 40 games and use No-CD patches for every one. Not only is this for convenience (being able to play several games without having to wonder over to the bookshelf each time to dig out the relevant CD) but, as a laptop user, I want to be able to play games on the move without having to drag a stack of discs around or lose playing time to a battery-guzzling CD-ROM drive.
Why do game publishers spend so much time and effort trying to make life harder for legitimate purchasers? Not only do CD-Checks make things inconvenient (except to those who only play one game) but they can affect game performance (e.g. Morrowind) or refuse to work with many CD drives (e.g. Unreal Tournament). This seems to be a throwback to the days when you had to enter keywords or play with codewheels to start a game.
Apologies if this seems a little OT - but given that the vast majority of posts on this board are from Beyond Divinity owners, I think it is important to point out to Larian that there are those who find such "anti-piracy" measures increasingly intolerable.
