Took a strong drink of Kiya's patience potion, learned Shaman's Hammer, and finally beat Damien. BUT, at that point BD signaled a change in screen resolution and my game crashed to desktop 'cause I didn't have a chance to save, quit, and restart a lower resolution. Guess I should have spent the last two hours downloading patch 1.45 instead of playing.
