If the acquired item is not gold - you can see it on the left top corner of your inventory, regardless, which section you have opened - as soon as you click on a button, it then vanishes into the appropriate section.
You get gold, runes, crystals, special, unique items, weapons, armour, skill books, sometimes only potions or in one case, 2 tiny bottles. I can assure you in my games => if you get the "acquire" message - you really GET an item. [color:"yellow"]Tell me, which quest you wish info about - and I will name you your reward.[/color] How I know? Easy, as soon as I approach a quest giver, I make sure, I take my char: her inventory is pretty empty, so I can keep track - and I leave no gold in her inventory, so I can see how much I got.
IMO, it was easier in former times (with one inventory for all and no buttons selected) to simply keep this left space free and therefore view what you got.
Suggestion: Keep the upper left space in all sections - then you might see it better. View it, then remove it to another location. This is what I do.
Quickly right click => never tried it out - as I keep a fierce look at the minimap once I open a container/inventory etc. Guess, it's for combat alarm?
