You can enter BF any time you want, even in the middle of a tough fight (nice escape of a too heavy fight).
If you found the keys and clicked them, then under your secondary skills button (second hand from the menu beside the avatar) and see a entrance with an arrow through it. Click that and you've entered the BattleFields
