"Thomas the tamil engine" gets it for me. i don't get it "Thomas the Tank Engine" is a hugely popular series of kids books, TV shows and assorted spin-off products. Not sure which countries it's shown in, but it's been sold in a lot of places. It's been revived and re-done several times since the books were first written something like 50 years ago. Tamils are a race of people from S.India and Sri Lanka. So all those hangers on could easily be Tamils. It's one for those who prefer clever word play over laugh-out-loud fart jokes.. (we know Kris in real life, so he won't mind my dragging my wife's entry into the discussion )

Didn't know you Aussies had 'Thomas the Tank Engine'! Guess its serves you right for giving us 'Neighbours'.

I have a young son, so we have Thomas on TV, Thomas books, Thomas Snap cards ... even a wooden Thomas model railway set (behind me as I type).. As for Neighbours, I think that it's made to export for the English to watch so they can get a bit of sunshine. I can honestly say that I've never seen it, and I don't know anybody who does watch it. But I expect it does have a following amongst the soapie set here. We seem to get a heck of a lot of American and English TV though, detective shows being high on the list. Australia also exports a kids show called "Bananas in Pyjamas", which you might say is our revenge for Thomas the Tank Engine and Sesame Street. And congratulations to Bean too. Short and sweet (the caption that is - not sure about bean's dimensions.... )

Sesame Street was quality viewing, at least until it became the Elmo and Friends show. Teletubbies!!! Aaaaaargh!! WMDs - Weapons of Moronic Dumbness. I'd been trying to forget that piece of ..... I do agree that Sesame Street is actually pretty good value too. We are fans of The Count here now. And this morning I caught myself singing "our journey to Ernie is done...." But we like to see local content. So our real love is the Australian made Playschool (based originally on a British show). We can recite huge chunks of it verbatim...
