Is survivor (spec. bow) actually any good ? it seems so weak.
Not sure my answer will help you any but my hero has used her bow since the beginning of the game, but it's not listed under the 'Survivor' path. It's in Warrior --> ranged --> bow (and later in the game crossbow) --> and you can choose to put skill points in accuracy, damage, critical hit, death blow, (and another one, I think but can't remember the name of).
In the beginning of the game, everything your characters do will be weak. Strategy will be the way you get through the first part of the game. At least, that's how I was able to maneuver through some of the more difficult areas. I.e., if my characters couldn't defeat a certain skeleton, evil henchman or monster, I reloaded an earlier save and tried using another tactic (sneak, whirl attack and/or magic).
I played Divine Divinity before getting BD and I have to admit, I've restarted BD at least 3 times before getting the 'knack' of the gameplay. Good luck! And welcome to the forums, btw. Have fun!
