Is she supposed to be locked inside her lab?

There is a riddle to answer to get inside her lab. unfortunately, i don't seem to be given a riddle when going to the door, even though now i have a reason to go in, namely that blasted potion for the 1st summoning test. i've clicked the symbol next to the door and it simply states that no one without a reason gets into the lab. am i missing something or is there a problem here?

After you have spoken to Belehram and learned where the Feynur potion is, the door is unlocked.

where is he at?

First of all, Markunthar is very definitely a he.
Second, when you get out of the room of the summoning ingredients guy a conversation about some student trying to seduce Markunthar should be triggered.
Then go back to Markunthar's room and there should be a girl waiting outside. Tell her to try and seduce Markunthar by praising his intellect. Then they should leave together.

I hope it's not the girl that's locked inside the laboratory (some of the NPC's seem to wander around at times). If it's really the girl inside, I think you'll have to go back to a previous save (I've had the same problem with the librarian locking himself in once). Maybe it can be solved by going a level down and then up again, but I'm not sure.

She... Belehram is a she. The specimen woman you have to ask where the ingredients are, East of the library

Belehram is at number 8. There is no cut scene - but the mage door is unlocked then after you have watched the ranting of students Domequar and Dotharhar (these are males).

ok i misunderstood that. and i probably did see the little gossip session between the two raanar earlier. i think i need to scan my conversations more. it turns out i didn't speak to everyone. i found belerham and he is the component clerk. once he told me about the components then the girl appeared next to the door and the room was unlocked. whew. with all the bugs this game has had i think i'm getting a little jaded and expecting something to go wrong.

In case you wonder about me insisting Belehram is a "she" => names ending on "am" indicate female - ending on "ar" indicate the male Raanaar gender.
