the instructor is not recognizing that i have all the ingredients even though i do:

feynur potion
spider leg
kohar root
wisdom protection rune

now, it occurs to me this problem might be caused by the fact that in the summoning book, there is a reference to "feynur-potion" while the actual item is labeled "feynur potion". notice the lack of a hyphen. if there is a bug due to a typo, i'm going to be annoyed.

how do we get around this?

i cannot complete summoning quest 1 without the summoning book on the podium and the instructor recognizing that i have the items and they are in the circle.

EDIT

I just found a reference here in the forums regarding this. You mean to tell me that if he wandered out of the room he starts in, I have to WAIT until he wanders back in there, otherwise I'm stuck because he won't ask for the protection rune unless he's in THAT room? ARGH!

Ridiculous AND irritating! I would appreciate a patch that corrects the boundary problems with characters wandering away from where they are supposed to be for things to work the way they were DESIGNED to. Otherwise, remove boundary requirements from quests to trigger dialogue options and cut scenes. Please. Thanks.

EDIT

turns out this was caused by the room (or whatever) not recognizing that all items are in place so one has to drop and pick everything back up again. not so bad, actually i'm glad that resolved it, however, it does create an intense amount of frustration when these things happen. *sigh* Thanks KIYA

Hmmm I have the same problem, but all the above mentioned things don't help me. Just for the record, I have to put all 4 ingredients on the floor inside the circle euh? Including the runestone euh? And then talk to the instructor?

I tried different approaches, picked up the items, went outside room , saved and loaded again, but nothing works, i'm completely stuck.

Furthermore I tried to implement the latest patch (had 1.44) hoping that would solve the issue, but that didn't work either, even more, one of the imps has now dissapeared in an area that is impossible to reach, so I can forget the drug-quest as well......

Besides, I talked to that lotharhar, but the imp(s) doesn't give me the key by means of any question i can ask them. There is no conversation at all about keys, so its also impossible for me to get the key from the door. I remember there was a conversation about the key in the beginning, and that he didn't want to give it to me, now he doesn't even talk about it, only that he saw me in his dreams pffffffffffffffffff

Any suggestions?

You get the key from the imp later - to let you finish the SECOND summoning quest.

Try dropping all the items for the first quest OUTSIDE the summoning area and then picking them up if the instructor doesn't recognize that you have them. Make sure you have the right rune (wisdom).

The ingredients go in the circle - the rune does NOT - it is handed to the instructor.

Reality is for those who cannot cope with fantasy. Fortunately, I can cope quite well.

once you have the 2nd summoning quest, you have to talk to Taxlehix, he's the man with the key. the old uncle imp won't give it to you ever.

Drop them outside the summoning room or outside the circle? Actually, I have tried both and the instructor still does not recognize that I have the items.

I WANT to like this game as I did DD, but this sort of bug makes it hard. This should just work when you have the items--not require you to jump through some non-intuitive hoops! Grrrrrrr.....

Misterbill, where did you try to drop the items? In the small front room or in the main corridor?

Please, try again - go near mage Markunthar's lab door and then drop all 4 items - pick them up by clicking (one by one) - move each in your inventory, to make sure. Then turn around and enter the first door. Watch out for XP values coming as soon as you pass the door. Does it happen? If so, then speak to the instructor first. He will take the rune and order you to place the rest items into the circle.

Aaaahhhh....I was dropping the items in the room next to the one with the summoning circle--not out in the hallway. Thanks for helping me once again, Kiya! This game should come packaged with a hologram of YOU instead of a manual....hehe....

Thank you for teaching me the word "hallway" - sounds nicer than corridor

I think I might have stumbled on the answer to the problems with item recognition ...

Wisdom rune duplicate: There are TWO wisdom runes in the game. If you have the "old" wisdom rune you got on an earlier level in your main inventory, then the instructor will not recognize that you have the correct gudge. I never went to the rune room (upper middle of academy level 2) to get the wisdom rune because I thought I had already stumbled across it and didn't need to go there.

This also is true even if you have BOTH the old and the correct rune in inventory. Finally, I passed the other one (cannot for the life of me recall where I collected it earlier ... perhaps in the level III temple catecombs or the originallevel IV tests?) to the DK, and the problem went away.

Disappearing book: I too "lost" the library book, until I finally realized it was under the second to the last tab in my inventory, not the last tab where I expected it. Senility strikes yet again !

Hope this helps.

Vox, did you restore the doll in Act 3? Meaning this: Did you collect 3 symbols (one of the goldy one for wisdom) and then searched for Goddess Raan to give Anlokam back her former self? If so, these 3 symbols are no longer in your inventory after act change.

If you didn't (cause you wanted to keep this doll) => then these symbols remain. I put out everything after act change => mostly in the BF, so they don't confuse me.
