Years ago I decided that in nearly all games, all other things being equal, the item that the merchants will pay more for is the one I want to wear. I don't make my decisions based on that (especially in BD, as the item descriptions are exceedingly thorough), but it is a handy tiebreaker!
That's what I do when I can't decide...
"why is the merchant offering 2 grand more for that ring of gammyness than for the ring of always beat the crap outta things"
