I thought the pit would only open up if you do the levers in the correct order and the puzzle doesn't reset itself if you go away. There is no passage to continue on I can see/could see. I have restarted from my previous save game since I didn't have any quick slot save games that had not been overwritten when I tried going through the four levers in the wrong order. It doesn't matter. I will be back there shortly. More concerned about other details of the game at this point. Thanks.
