Hello all,

I've been playing DD for about two weeks now. It's truly a unique game, which I have enjoyed thoroughly.

I have a few questions, some of them are newbie questions, and some of them are quite advanced. I hope there are people around, who aren't playing Beyond, to answer them. . .

1. A minor restoration potion gives you 50% health and 50% magic back. A restoration potion gives you 100% life and 100% magic. What does a Super Restoration potion due, other than the same thing a Mid sized one does?

2. Given the above, why would one raise Alchemy above 3? I realize that Alchemy 5, let's you combine Augmenter, but why bother. Getting empty potion bottles seems quite easy.

3. In all the walk throughs I've read, they mention to kill all the monsters, before starting most of the quests. I did that over the weekend. At level 35, I had killed most of the monsters EVERYWHERE. Upon completing the quests, I was level 40 ish. If I hadn't killed all the monsters first, what would the level difference be? (see number 4 below for more detail).

4. As an experiment, I completed the "Free Lanilor" quest at level 1. I received 100 experience. I reloaded the game, and killed enough monsters to get to level 2, THEN I freed Lanilor. This time I got 1500 experience. That's a 500 point difference. Does anyone have a formula, to determine the difference in experience, per level? I've read in several places, that monsters experience goes down, as you level up, but quest experience goes up, as you level up.

5. In Nericon's garden, there are pedestals for 3 statues. You have to talk to the middle statue (he looks like a wizard to me), to complete the quest. At the end of a the game, in the cut scene, a statue drops out of the sky. Has anyone noticed that the statue, looks like the missing statue in Nericon's garden?

6. How do you start a new game? More to the point, when your new character arrives in Joram's basement, what do you do? I begin by looting all the houses, to include Mardaneus' house, before I activate the Freeze cut scene. After I do all my looting, I free Lanilor, so I can get the pyramids from him. After that, I jump outside and kill orcs, until around level 8. At level 8 or 9 ish, I make a major trip all the way to the merchant sector. I then loot all of those shops/houses. After that, I've set up a nice nest egg, for potion and equipment purchases. How about you? How do you start a game?

Ok, I think that is enough for now. Hope the length of the post doesn't annoy anyone.

Take care and have tons of fun,

El

Or does it rather look like the statue that rockets into the air, when you open the entrance to the catacombs at Aleroth? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif" alt="" /> What goes up, must come down - eventually <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

[chuckles] Very good point there! I'll have to go open the catacombs and have a look.

Thanks,

the super restoration potions do the same thing as the med restoration potions. there really is no need for them, i think.

yes, the statue in the end is the same as the one in the middle of Aleroth.

that is one way to start the game. i try to level up as much as possible before i take on the quests. this game plan make the quests alot easier if you are a higher level.

Nothing else unfortunately! They sell for a bit, though! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

[color:"orange"]2. Given the above, why would one raise Alchemy above 3? I realize that Alchemy 5, let's you combine Augmenter, but why bother. Getting empty potion bottles seems quite easy.[/color]

Perhaps if you wanted larger Strength potions or such. But that's the joy of RPGs, make what you want!

[color:"orange"]3. In all the walk throughs I've read, they mention to kill all the monsters, before starting most of the quests. I did that over the weekend. I don't know what the difference is exactly, but at higher levels you gain more experience for completing quests and less experience for killing monsters, hence you can finish at a higher level by taking on the monsters first.

[color:"orange"]4. As an experiment, I completed the "Free Lanilor" quest at level 1. I received 100 experience. I reloaded the game, and killed enough monsters to get to level 2, THEN I freed Lanilor. This time I got 1500 experience. That's a 500 point difference. Correct, but again, I don't know the figures.

Close. What happens when you open the Aleroth Catacombs at the start? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

If I'm planning on looting, I empty the houses, and give George his drugs. Either way, then I clear out Aleroth of quests, including Zombie Jake I and II. Then the Catacombs are next on the list. Then I open the front gate...
