Sadly, in this case the referee thought it was his job to make sure the Czechs won at all cost

Mrobo... Je moet toch echt toegeven dat als Advocaat er niet was geweest, en we een eerlijke scheidsrechter hadden gehad.. Dat Nederland dan waarschijnlijk gewoon gewonnen had...

Thats why I'm so pissed off

One of the referee blunders I was talking about is the *not* penalty.
A briljant action, 90% chance of a goal, but van nistelrooy was being held (don't know the correct word) so he couldn't move well and couldn't score.
Any normal referee would have given a penalty, but not this one.
He does however, reward heitinga with a red card, while he did nothing wrong (if you look at the replays, you'd see the 2 of them barely even touched)

A couple of hands balls weren't seen as well, and they were being vague about the offsides.

Over here (UK) in Rugby, the referee can ask for different camera angles to be checked, and played in slow-motion, before making a decision.

I'm not a football fan (or a rugby fan for that matter), but perhaps football should start taking advantage of new technology

@ xacesx : I totally agree with you, allthough it will cost a lot of play time, but it will be worth it in some occasions.

Well referee fault or not the Czech deserved to win with all the chances thay had. I was ammased that you scored 2 goals in 20 minutes while the Czech had 20 or 30 chances in the same 20 minutes. the Czech deserved that win fair and square.

Maybe the clock should be stopped? Perhaps if the clock was stopped often enough, prolonging the game, players would stop diving and messing about, trying to get free kicks. And if the players knew they would be checked out by slow-motion, they'd be less inclined to fall on the floor, which would also speed the game up.

I think I know what you mean.

Floor = Ground, football pitch.

Football players falling on the ground to get a free kick.

Being an England fan the only team i fear so far are the Checzs.

God do they play well.

A pity about Holland,i think they have good players yet they dont seem to gel as a team i feel.

@ morbo, perhaps you didn't notice, but both of the teams had many chances, and the first Czech goal was a lucky one, because of a defence fault on our side.

About the time, it doesn't have to be stopped..
All the stadions have a big screen, the only thing you have to do is putting a few men behind a television and they have a great view of the game, so when there has happened something they can show it on the screen. Doesn't have to cost time.
