Well I would like to say hello to everyone for the first time, after reading a few reviews and playing the demo I finally bought the game a few days ago and am very pleased so far with the detail to gameplay and story. Alas here are my problems. The game randomly crashes on me and I get a loud distortion through the speakers for no reason every once in a while. I cant play in direct 3d mode cause the test goes all black and nothing happens. Does anyone know why it could be crashing or why the sound does that? I am in directdraw mode cause its the only one that works. BTW what does ALPHABIT do? Should I enable it?

SB audigy 2 latest drivers
Radeon 9800 pro 128 4.4 cats
Divine Divinity latest version

The configuration program's Direct 3D test can have a problem with (most often) some Radeon cards / drivers, but the game itself should work fine. Select Direct 3D, then check the 'skip test' box and click on the 'test' and 'apply & close' buttons.

The 'Use AlphaBit' option presumably uses a more compatible, though probably slower, rendering technique. The readme file lists some problems this option helps with, but if you are not encountering any graphics problems, there is not much reason to think it would help (selecting that option to test it shouldn't hurt, though).

For the sound distortions, you could try turning the hardware sound acceleration down (click Start | Run, type in dxdiag and hit enter, then switch to the sound tab).

BTW is there a way to disable the intro movies? So far so good with the new settings except it seems to skip a few frames here and there, it like pauses then runs ok. Maybe it my driver version? I am using 4.4 cats cause the other versions dont work good with thief deadly shadows. ALSO one thing I noticed is while playing I get some sort of popup in the background once in a while, could this be an error? Anyone have any idea what it is? I know its not a reg popup cause I have the popup stopper and it only happens in this game.

You can use a mouse click or hit escape twice to skip the movies, or check out Salvation at last.

AFAIK there should not be any error messages popping up in the background. Are you shutting down all non-essential programs before starting the game? Have you tried an anti-spyware program, or ran a virus scan?

Well thnx for the no intro link, I dont have to use a cd anymore for some reason? Guess it was the only thing on the cd it needed to look for maybe. As for the popups I tried everything on it, spyware etc. So everything works perfect except for that... Wonder what it is...

There are still a couple places in the game where the CD is required (where no-CD hacks fail).

Yet I have seen a patch/fixed EXE or something like that that claims that you can actually play without the GAME CD. Do you think that´s be possible?

I haven´t tried it since I am close (I hope) to completing the game and I sincerely don´t want the whole system to crash due to a "fixed" executable. In any case, I don´t think it´s a big deal since it will only check the CD and that´s it. We shouldn´t be too annoyed about having the disk in the CD drive I think.

Cheers,

No-CD hacks fail during the blessing ceremony and at the end of the game, since they can not handle the videos shown at those points (which are on the play CD).

If you have any problems with other games, reinstall Direct-X. Check out ATI's site for know issues withthe latest drivers.
