I just finished Divine Divinity that ships with Beyond Divinity. Excellent game. The first thing I did (so I don't have to have the CDROM in the drive) was make an ISO image. No problem.
Today, I installed Beyond Divinity and it's 1.45 patch. Created an ISO. Wait.. what was that message during install.. StarForce 3? Oh, isn't that the bloody protection scheme that will NOT work with my CDROM's? (I have a FEW other games with StarForce that will NOT work with my drives). Why do I buy the games that won't work with my system? Why that's because no one advertises that they use a copy protection scheme SO SLICK... that you cannot even use the bloody software that it's protecting!
The ISO, of course, failed to work. So I thought.. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Popped in the CDROM. "No disc found". What a surprise. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />
I've purchased, yet another... $40 set of CDROM drink coasters.
I purchase EVERY game I play. And to this day, I am still met with this instant mistrust.
I hope Larian/Hip Games, decides to make a patch one day that will allow me to actually play the game.
To think.. I even ordered the soundtrack/novella. I guess I can sit and listen to the music.. pop open a Pepsi and set it on my "Beyond Divinity" CDROM's. They aren't worth much else to me now.
